Lost Landscapes of Portland

“Lost Landscapes of Portland” is a cinematic time machine built with footage from home movies, advertising, and industrial films revealing scenes of northwestern Oregon from the 1930s through the 1970s.
Inspired by SF Bay Area archivist Rick Prelinger’s “Lost Landscapes” series, film clips have been sourced from the Prelinger Archives with some amazing additional material shared by Stephen Slappe of Dead Media Hour.
The program features the “flying buses” of the Skiway tram line on Mount Hood, a rose garden that no longer exists, the original Oregon City elevator, hundreds of sheep, a rally protesting police violence, Portland’s hard working waterfront and more!
The show will conclude with “The Day Called X”, CBS Television’s 1957 dramatization of the civic plan to evacuate Portland in the event of a nuclear attack.
Come learn about Portland’s past so we can all make more informed decisions about its future!
