Paul Smart – Don Barry: A Quixotic Exploration
Please help us welcome independent filmmaker Paul Smart to Portland for this screening of his feature film, Don Barry: A Quixotic Exploration. Paul is touring the film from Mexico, and prepping for its streaming debut later this year.
The work places real-life 85-year-old experimental filmmaker Barry Gerson into the Quixote role, filming him in Guanajuato, Mexico during its annual Cervantes festival and Day of the Dead celebrations. It has been screened at several prestigious festivals in the U.S., Europe, and Mexico, winning awards as Best First Film and accolades as “strange and wonderful.”
Paul also produced a book by the protagonist of the film, ELIXIR OF LIGHT, and copies will be on sale.
