rubén garcía marrufo is a mexican filmmaker and an american installation artist currently living in the united states. their work focuses on borders, their aftermaths, and bilinguality. blurring the line between reality and fiction by narratives that are rooted in hearsay and multiple languages. co-curator of Chingada Gallery, an experimental space focused on not-specific art objects and non-objectual art conceived from the distance featuring latin-american artists. recipient of the 2018 Andy Warhol Foundation via Precipice Fund, recipient of 2019 Regional Arts and Culture Council Project Grant for yanga and gaspar, was part of the MexiCali Biennial: Manifesting the Terrestrial Paradise. marrufo has produced both feature length and short experimental videos, which have exhibited in FICUNAM in Mexico, has performed at Disjecta in Portland, and shown video work at Artist Space in NYC and Kunstverein in Munich.
